COVID SAFETY UPDATE February 25, 2022

For your safety, we will be taking the following steps:

  • Hand Cleaning. We will have hand sanitizer and soap available for all clients and staff to use upon entering the studio and using the restroom.
  • Enhanced Cleaning. All doors & handles, faucets, switches, sinks, counters, toilets, equipment, and cleaning bottles will be wiped with disinfectant between sessions. The floors and shelving will be cleaned nightly.
  • Less Shared Surfaces. All clients attending equipment classes will be required to bring their own straps. Each client will also have their own set of props and equipment to use during class.
  • Exposure Avoidance. We ask anyone who is sick or has recently been exposed to please stay home, clients and staff alike. All clients who would like to wear a mask are encouraged to do so, but they are no longer required at this time.

Please prepare a ”Pilates bag” to bring to each class. Your bag should include:

  • Your loops. They should be washed at home after each session and brought back to the studio for class. (These are not needed for mat classes.)
  • Socks. We ask everyone to wear socks during class. We also have some in stock if you want to freshen up with a new pair.
  • A water bottle. We will no longer have the communal water dispenser, but the sink is available to refill your personal bottle.
  • Your face mask. Please bring a mask to wear if you choose.

COVID SAFETY UPDATE December 28, 2021

The Omicron variant of Covid is spreading rapidly in the Holland community. The Ottawa County Department of Public health continues to “urge all individuals to wear a mask indoors, at work, school, and anywhere in public when gathered around other people, even if they are vaccinated.”

Therefore, Pilates in Holland is continuing to ask all clients to mask up:

  • Everyone please mask in the studio.
  • Please do not come to class if you are sick or have been in close contact with someone who tests positive for Covid.
  • In the studio, we will continue to keep space between clients and clean all equipment between classes.
UPDATED NOVEMBER 20, 2021

Ottawa County Department of Public Health has announced a surge of Covid cases in Ottawa County and is urging community members to do everything they can, between today and New Year’s Day, to bring transmission down and preserve access to the County’s already strained health systems.

“OCDPH is urging all individuals to wear a mask indoors, at work, school, and anywhere in public when gathered around other people, even if they are vaccinated. Masks provide an additional layer of protection from spreading and contracting the virus.”

Therefore, effective immediately, Pilates in Holland will be asking all clients to mask up until our two-week holiday break at the end of December. We will revisit the need for masks at the beginning of 2022.

  • Everyone please mask in the studio.
  • In the studio, we will continue to keep space between clients and clean all equipment between classes.
  • Please do not come to class if you are sick or have been in close contact with someone who tests positive for Covid.

We thank you for your continued support during these unprecedented times.

UPDATED MAY 15, 2021

Updated Covid Protocols at the Studio

We are happy to announce that based on the newest CDC recommendations and the latest announcement from Governor Whitmer, anyone who is fully vaccinated no longer needs to wear a mask indoors or outdoors.

That means we are no longer requiring masks in the studio for anyone who is fully vaccinated. So that you know, all of our group class teachers are fully vaccinated. Please know that if you are more comfortable wearing a mask, you are welcome to continue wearing one, no questions asked.

Our standards of cleaning & disinfecting have always been high, even before the pandemic, and that won’t change.

Thank you all for your patience and commitment during this time. Cheers to a step in the direction of getting back to normal!

Be well,
Mandy & the PIH Staff

UPDATED JANUARY 22, 2021

As always, your health is our first priority. Since it’s been a while, here’s a reminder of the steps we will be taking for your safety:

  • Staff Temp Checks. All staff will have their temperature checked upon arrival at the studio, and no one with a fever allowed in.
  • Hand washing, masks, and distancing. Staff will wash hands thoroughly between sessions and wear masks the entire time they are in the studio. They will also maintain a 6-foot distance from clients.
  • Increased distancing. All mats and Reformers will be placed 6 – 10 feet apart, with classes capped at 6 participants.
  • Enhanced sanitizing. We have hand sanitizer and soap available for all clients and staff to use upon entering the studio and using the restroom. All equipment, doors & handles, faucets, switches, sinks, counters, toilets, and cleaning bottles will be wiped with disinfectant between sessions. The floors and shelving will be cleaned nightly.
  • Better traffic flow. We have added time between sessions to allow for clients to leave before the next arrives. This also allows for more time to sanitize between classes.
In addition, please prepare a ”pilates bag” to bring to each class. Your bag should include:
  • Your face mask. Please wear your mask into the studio. It needs to cover your nose and mouth and should be washed at home after each session.
  • Socks. We will continue to ask everyone to wear socks during class. Socks are available for $15 if you want to purchase a new pair.
    • Your loops. They should be washed at home after each session and brought back to the studio for class. (These are not needed for mat classes.) (Wash your loops in a pillowcase (NOT a delicates bag) on a gentle cycle. Let air dry.)
  • A water bottle, if you need one. The sink is available to refill your personal bottle.

If you need your own set of loops, the ones we use at PIH are the tri-loops which you can order directly from Balanced Body here. If you prefer a less expensive option, they also offer double loops or single loops (we recommend the soft touch, padded option). If the ones you want are unavailable online, you can also call directly to order at 1-800-PILATES.

UPDATED MARCH 15, 2020

Pilates in Holland closed March 16-22

We’ve heard from many clients that the Pilates in Holland studio has been a haven during these stressful times, a needed respite from the fear and anxiety around us. This makes us so happy!

As recently as yesterday, we were planning to stay open with enhanced cleaning protocols and safety measures, but things are in a constant state of flux and we just don’t have enough information. We prefer to be proactive rather than reactive when it comes to the health of our clients, staff, and their families. So Pilates in Holland will be closed this week, March 16-22. All classes/privates for this week will be credited to your account. We will reassess the situation on a week by week basis.

In the meantime, as we practice physically distancing ourselves, we will NOT be socially distant! Look for motivational emails and stay in contact with us on Facebook and Instagram as we continue to post daily for the March Plank Challenge. If you are looking for more movement opportunities at home, take a peek at our YouTube channel.

And when this has passed (and it will pass), Pilates in Holland will continue to be here for you.

Thank you so much for your support,
Mandy and the PIH Staff

Our Commitment to Your Health During COVID-19 and Always

With COVID-19 (coronavirus) all over the news, it’s at the top of everyone’s mind. It’s important for all of us to consider our health and the health of our community more consciously.

Keeping our studio clean and healthy has always been a point of pride at Pilates in Holland, and that isn’t changing. We are continuing our regular cleaning practices and adding some in keeping with the guidelines set out by the Ottawa County Department of Public Health, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, and the Center for Disease Control (CDC) for preventing the spread of COVID-19.

Our classes are small and extremely clean and everyone moves in their own space, so we will continue to operate with regular hours and will communicate any changes as they happen.

Here are the steps we will continue taking:

  • All instructors and clients will be asked to wash their hands before and after class (hand sanitizer and soap & water are available).
  • All equipment is cleaned after each class it is used in.
  • We deep clean the mats several times a week even though folks clean them after each use.
  • We disinfect door handles, faucets, the toilet, water cooler, and light switches between each class.
  • We take towels home to launder them.
  • We mop and disinfect the floor daily.
  • Instructors stay home if they are sick.

We ask that you also stay home if you are sick; if you feel sick or are in contact with someone who is sick 12 hours before the start of class time, please cancel.

  • Classes can be canceled through the WellnessLiving app or by contacting your instructor.
  • Classes that are canceled more than 2 hours before class time may be made up at a later date (even after this session ends).
  • Also, remember to wash your hands (for at least 20 seconds) frequently and avoid touching your face.
  • Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol, if soap and warm water are not available.
  • Always cover coughs or sneezes with a tissue or sleeve.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces (computers, keyboards, desks, etc.).

So all this is to say…..at Pilates in Holland before, during, and after the virus, we will continue to keep the studio a clean and beautiful place for you to be.

Be well,
Mandy & the PIH Staff
